I had relocated myself to Bangor ME in December 1982, after having taught the Fall Semester at CORNELL U in Ithaca NY . At that time, I was living w my parents at their house in Brewer Me . I immediately rented studio space for myself in downtown Bangor . On a daily basis, I would cross over the Penobscot River from Brewer on foot to work at my studio,which was located over a bagel shop in downtown Bangor.

From the outset, the dual motif of WINDOW and WORKTABLE has been present in my work. Note th WINDOW as source of light and inspiration for whatever would be accomplished upon th WORKTABLE.

Joe and I corresponded via US mail . We talked via telephone too. Our friendship , despite continental divide, has persisted for four decades and then some . We met initially in Berkeley back in th fall of 1969. when we both were teaching in th ART Dept at CAL aka UC Berkeley .

This rendering, an ink drawing, was made by my father, George O. Lloyd, architect, most probably in 1984.It depicts th former LEVINSKY'S clothing store., where I had obtained my first day job in Portland as a retail clerk . I lasted for over a year at LEVINSKY'S , until I began to work as a draftsman at my brother David's architechtural firm , then known as ARCHTELLIC, in 1985.
